According to the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine half the children in the U.S. will be on food stamps during their childhood. The study was based on data collected over a 29 year period. Over 300,000 people are recieving food stamps in Philadelphia and almost half of them are children.
Before welfare was changed 600,000 women and children recieved benefits but now more than half of them have been cut off. The amount of payment that a family of three recieves isnt enough to get them through a whole month. This causes either the whole family or mother to go without eating until the next payment comes in.
Even though Obama boosted the money spent on food stamps to 4.8 billion from 3.3 billon it still isn't enough. It may seem like an impresive amount but the increase per person only increased by 41 dollars.
